When it comes to outpatient treatment, you’ll find plenty of options.
There are programs for adults. Programs for teens. Programs for mental health and for chemical dependency. Some are a few days a week. Others run Monday through Friday. And each one offers a different level of support, depending on what you need.
At Charter Oak Hospital, our job is to make these outpatient alternatives easy to understand. We are here to break it all down, explain what each program looks like, and help you find the right fit for your life, schedule, and goals.
What Outpatient Treatment Really Is
Outpatient treatment allows you to participate in mental health or substance use care without necessitating an overnight stay. You come in regularly for scheduled therapy, groups, or medication management and then go home afterward.
Outpatient care is a top choice for people who:
- Want support while keeping a normal routine
- Are stepping down from inpatient or residential care
- Need structured help, but not 24/7 supervision
- Prefer staying close to home, work, or school
When you choose outpatient care, you are choosing treatment that does not require your life to go on pause. It’s treatment that fits into your day, not the other way around.
Who We Help
At Charter Oak Hospital, we are proud to serve a wide variety of needs and people. Our outpatient programs support:
- Teens facing anxiety, depression, emotional regulation concerns, or substance use
- Adults working through mental health conditions, trauma, addiction, or relapse prevention
- Families seeking better communication, support, and understanding
- Students who need therapy and care but do not want to entirely pause or interrupt their educational studies
No matter who you are, you deserve help. And regardless of age or situation, you shouldn’t have to navigate things alone. Fortunately, at Charter Oak, you never have to.
Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Options
Charter Oak’s Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the highest level of outpatient care we offer. The program runs Monday through Friday for about 2-4 weeks, depending on your needs. This program offers structured daytime care with built-in academic support, so your teen can stay on track with school while getting help.
If a teen needs less intensity, we offer an Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). It meets multiple afternoons a week. This program helps teens build coping skills, manage emotions, and improve their overall well-being. And it does all of this without disrupting their regular routines.
We also offer a Chemical Dependency IOP for adolescents who are experiencing substance use challenges. Held three times per week, this program focuses on relapse prevention, understanding triggers, and building a strong foundation for ongoing sobriety.
Adult Outpatient Treatment Options
At Charter Oak Hospital, we also offer multiple outpatient options for adults with mental health challenges and/or addiction.
First, the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers structured daytime care Monday to Friday. In this program, individuals received daily care without being fully inpatient. Attendance is Monday through Friday, and we base treatment on evidence-based models.
Second, the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a shorter-term level of care that is still intensive. Adult IOP attendees meet three times per week for three hours of treatment a day. We have both morning and evening options to fit work, school, and/or family schedules.
Third, Charter Oak Hospital offers a dedicated Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program (CDD-IOP) for adults working toward sobriety. This program takes place three days per week and includes group therapy, addiction education, coping skills training, and relapse prevention strategies. CDD-IOP is best for individuals transitioning from detox. It is also ideal for those seeking support in maintaining sobriety with the guidance of a psychiatrist, nurse, and licensed chemical dependency therapist.
