Mental health struggles can show up at any age. Teens feel overwhelmed. Adults feel weighed down. Life can get confusing, stressful, or simply feel too heavy.
Fortunately, at Charter Oak Hospital, we provide mental health and substance use treatment for both adolescents and adults, ages 9+. Our care does vary based on age, situation, and need, and there is an age-appropriate solution for every individual circumstance.
Care for Adolescents
The teenage years are full of change. Emotions run high, relationships can feel uncertain, and the pressure to succeed can be overwhelming. For some teens, that stress can become too much to handle alone.
At Charter Oak Hospital, we help teens who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, or self-harm find balance and hope. Our adolescent programs are created to give these young people a place where they can breathe, express themselves freely, and begin feeling like themselves again.
In treatment, our adolescent patients will also learn healthy coping skills, build confidence, and rediscover that their lives have great meaning and potential. Families are part of the healing process, too. Healing is very often a group effort that can completely change a young person’s life.
Care for Adults
Adulthood comes with its own tangled web of challenges: work stress, relationships, family responsibilities, loss, or past trauma. Sometimes, everything builds up until it becomes too much. When that happens, it’s okay to ask for help.
At Charter Oak Hospital, we offer multiple levels of care so every person can receive the exact kind of support they need. This includes short stay options for stabilization or ongoing therapy to maintain progress.
Our adult treatment programs are also built for people who are dealing with a variety of mental health and substance abuse challenges. For example, we’ve worked with individuals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, psychosis, and/or chemical dependency.
No matter what you’re experiencing, every level of care at Charter Oak focuses on helping clients understand what’s happening beneath the surface. With help, every person can regain a life that feels more peaceful and meaningful.
Our Approach to Healing
It sounds cliché, but it’s true: healing is never one-size-fits-all. And every person who comes to Charter Oak Hospital brings their own story, experiences, and goals. That is why our treatment is always personalized. We combine evidence-backed therapies, other healing modalities, and medication management to help patients and/or loved ones begin their unique recovery journey.
Our team also uses treatment approaches such as cognitive and dialectical behavior therapies, trauma-informed care, group therapy, and family involvement. Just as importantly, we focus on kindness, dignity, and connection every step of the way.
What You Can Expect
The Charter Oak team is ready 24 hours a day to listen and provide a confidential assessment at no cost. From there, we’ll talk through any concerns, answer questions, and help determine the best level of care for you or your loved one.
For example, Charter Oak’s residential and inpatient programs are among the more structured levels of care. These programs are best for individuals who are in crisis and looking for more stability. In addition, an Adult Inpatient Detox & Chemical Dependency Treatment program and Adolescent Chemical Dependency IOP are available if required.
Once you’re ready, you can step down into our partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient programs, where you’ll continue healing while returning to daily routines. We have adult and adolescent options to ensure treatment is always safe and age-appropriate.
